2К Svetomasterskaya:light as the basis of space
For ten years of work, 2K Svetomasterskaya has gone from creating luminous letters for events to producing full-cycle designer lighting. The distinctive technique of the team is a combination of manual assembly and technological solutions. Thanks to this symbiosis, not just lamps are obtained, but memorable art objects that adorn famous restaurants, hotels and private interiors.
2K is an abbreviation with a personal subtext
Kirill Katkov and Vladimir Kuznetsov founded their own small production in 2013. Having come up with a concise name reflecting the surnames of both founders, the duo focused on creating interior details made of metal and luminous products for events — letters with light bulbs, make-up mirrors and signboards. Ten years ago, the workshop occupied a compact room with an area of only 50 square meters in the Moscow suburb of Stupino, and today it is located on a thousand square meters in Kashira. After a while, Kirill and Vladimir narrowed their specialization to the production of designer lamps — as the founders themselves admit, the most interesting and diverse part of the work.

Production process and technologies
The main direction of the workshop is the production of decorative lamps to order. The team's work can be found both in private interiors and in hotels and famous restaurants, including in the capital's Londri, Folk and Twins Garden. Extensive experience of working with various materials and technologies allowed the duo to implement a long-standing idea and launch the production of lamps according to the author's design.
Among them, for example, there are a massive decorative lamp MELNIK, embodying the house of famous Russian architect Konstantin Melnikov in miniature, as well as a curved hanging lamp NEBULA 011, printed on a 3D printer.
After creating a series of sketches, any product of the 2K Svetomasterskaya is drawn in 3D, agreed and then sent to the workshop. Here, the future lamp falls into the hands of craftsmen - for cutting, welding, grinding, machining, painting, 3D printing and milling. Important stages in the creation of objects, which vary depending on the shape and material, are gluing or casting from resin, blowing or bending glass, and sculpting or molding.
Such a wide range of technological operations allows the team to implement almost any ideas of customers. Today, 2K Svetomasterskaya is a full—cycle production, from the drawing to the finished product. A special pride of the company is the careful study of the sketches of each element of the future product, which allows you to optimize the cost of the lamp, and improve its appearance and functional characteristics.
Thanks to this, the team can produce lighting systems of all sizes and types: tabletop, floor, wall, pendant and more. In addition, for each individual case, the craftsmen select light sources with the necessary parameters - lamps, LED modules or LED strips.
Although initially the duo worked mainly with metal, today the workshop has more than just metal in its arsenal. Glass, various types of plastic, wood, paper, ceramics, and stone are just some of the materials from which the team creates their products. Often, craftsmen use aluminum: it is great for reducing the weight of the lamp, as well as manufacturing parts by casting or milling.
Kirill and Vladimir say that they always try to offer customers the maximum choice of textures, finishes and colors. However, the process is often complicated by how differently shades and materials can manifest themselves when the lamp is turned on: "Something goes into the shade, something glitters; one part becomes visible, and the other, on the contrary, disappears. All these changes depend on the light source and external conditions, and only experience helps to predict them."
