SHRE Studio: Layered Architecture and Contemporary Georgian Design
SHRE Studio is a multidisciplinary architecture, interior, and product design studio based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Founded by brothers Iva Mazmanishvili and Tsotne Mazmanishvili, the studio brings together architecture, interior design, construction knowledge, furniture, and product innovation under one design vision: to create meaningful, timeless environments where space, material, light, and human experience are considered as one complete system.
The name SHRE means “layer” in Georgian — a word that reflects the studio’s core design philosophy. Rather than treating architecture, interiors, furniture, and lighting as separate disciplines, SHRE works through layers: cultural memory, material research, spatial atmosphere, technical detail, and emotional experience. This layered approach defines the studio’s work across private interiors, commercial spaces, custom furniture, and lighting objects.
From its early development, SHRE Studio positioned itself as an all-in-one architectural and design practice in Tbilisi. SHRE Studio has built its identity through a wide range of architectural and interior projects, including private residences, hospitality spaces, commercial interiors, wellness-oriented concepts, and custom-designed environments.
The studio’s work often combines architecture, interior design, furniture, lighting, and construction coordination into one complete design process, allowing each project to feel coherent from spatial concept to final detail. Among SHRE’s most recognized projects is SKA Juice Bar, one of Tbilisi’s early premium healthy bar concepts, where the studio transformed a compact commercial space into a fresh, functional, and memorable customer experience.
Over time, SHRE Studio’s practice expanded from interiors and architecture into object and lighting design. This transition was not a separate brand shift, but a natural continuation of the studio’s architectural thinking. In SHRE’s work, light is not only a technical element; it is part of how space is shaped, perceived, and emotionally experienced. This philosophy led to the development of sculptural lighting objects that combine function, atmosphere, craft, and cultural identity.
A major milestone in this evolution was the creation of MOONO Sliding Pendant Light, designed by Iva Mazmanishvili. MOONO is a kinetic pendant light inspired by the phases and quiet movement of the moon. Its lower section slides manually, allowing the user to adjust both light intensity and direction through touch. This transforms lighting from a static source into an interactive spatial experience.
MOONO was completed in 2025 in Tbilisi, Georgia, and became a winner in the Pendant Lighting category at the LIT Lighting Design Awards. In February 2026, MOONO was presented internationally through design media and press platforms as an award-winning sliding pendant light developed over two years, marking an important moment for contemporary Georgian product design.
Alongside MOONO, SHRE Studio developed the Natura Flower Collection, a family of lighting objects rooted in Georgian cultural ornament. The collection translates the geometry of historic Georgian architecture — especially cross and floral motifs found in temple frescoes, stone carvings, and decorative patterns — into contemporary lighting. The Flower object reinterprets the cross not only as a symbol of faith, but as a symbol of life, renewal, harmony, and transformation.
Today, SHRE Studio represents a new generation of Georgian design: locally rooted, internationally oriented, and deeply connected to both craft and innovation. Its work bridges architecture and product design, minimalism and ornament, tradition and technology. Through interiors, furniture, and lighting, the studio continues to develop objects and spaces that are calm, precise, tactile, and emotionally resonant.
As SHRE Studio expands its presence internationally, its mission remains clear: to create design that is not only beautiful, but meaningful — design that shapes atmosphere, supports human experience, and carries Georgian cultural identity into contemporary global interiors.
