Karman’s eclectic style: our selection

Karman’s eclectic style: our selection

Eclectic style allows for the design of unique, highly expressive interiors. Read the article to learn how to achieve this with Karman lighting. This highly sophisticated design approach requires an in-depth understanding of different stylistic codes and how to combine them harmoniously.

Without this knowledge, there’s a real risk of creating disjointed compositions, compromising the coherence of the overall design, generating sensory overload, and, all too often, veering into kitsch. In this type of design, which leans towards storytelling, lighting plays a key role in shaping a distinctive and believable narrative.

That’s where Karman lighting comes in. With its unconventional aesthetic, each lamp becomes the perfect voice in what we might call a polyphonic style composition.

In this article, we’ll explore the meaning of eclectic style and offer advice and inspiration on when and how to incorporate it into projects.

  • What does eclectic style mean?
  • When to furnish your home with an artistic lamp?
  • Why opt for eclectic lighting?
  • Some ideas for indoor lighting
What does eclectic style mean? To explain what eclectic style means in interior design, it's helpful to take a step back and look at its inspirations. Indeed, the meaning of eclectic style can be found in the term "eclecticism," which is derived from the Greek word “ ἐκλέγειν ” (eklegein), which means "to choose" or "to select. " In philosophy, an eclectic person does not adhere to a single school of thought but draws from multiple doctrines to construct their own vision. In contemporary design, eclecticism is a cross-style approach that integrates elements from different styles. When applied to lighting, eclectic lighting integrates luminous elements drawn from a plurality of design languages. An emblematic example of this is the Beautiful Mess suspension lamp. Designer Marcantonio created the unusual, deconstructed silhouette precisely by mixing shapes, materials, and styles that, while all belonging to the semantic field of lighting, refer to diverse times and places. The meaning When to furnish your home with an artistic lamp? Carefully selecting one or more artistic lamps can achieve an eclectic style in an interior lighting design project. The mention of artistic lamps evokes a dimension where light becomes a narrative protagonist, a stage presence that strongly defines the space. An artistic lamp surprises, subverts expectations, and moves beyond a purely utilitarian view of lighting to draw the eye even when turned off. For example, it can be the differentiating

Robin: Sustainability at Every Step

Robin: Sustainability at Every Step

At Robin, sustainability isn’t just a trend — it’s a core commitment embedded throughout our design, production, and distribution processes. This vision enables us to create products that combine aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility. Below are the key pillars of our sustainable approach:

Local design and production
Based in Barcelona, we design and assemble our products locally. This gives us greater control over quality, significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with transportation, and supports the local economy and industrial fabric.

Responsible material selection
We prioritize durable and recyclable materials such as natural marble bases, certified woods, and recycled plastics. These choices extend product life and minimize environmental impact from the beginning.
Collaboration with circular economy initiatives Robin partners with organizations like The Good Plastic Company (Netherlands) to integrate innovative materials such as terrazzo made from recycled plastic waste. This promotes resource reuse and supports the principles of a circular economy. Energy efficiency All our lighting products feature LED technology, optimizing energy consumption while providing long-term environmental and financial benefits for our customers. 3D printing and digital fabrication We incorporate 3D printing as a key part of our manufacturing process. This allows us to reduce material waste, prototype efficiently, and produce components with high precision — all while minimizing environmental impact and enabling greater design flexibility. Adaptive innovation Our local design and production capabilities, combined with digital tools like 3D printing, allow us to respond rapidly to emerging trends and needs. This agility helps us deliver
