This is the “TALIESIN® Special Limited Model homage to Frank Lloyd Wright” collection in 2018. While using TALIESIN® 2 as the prototype, Toyo Ito created a new TALIESIN by reinterpreting Wright’s ideas and architectural motifs from his own perspective. Special Limited Model HOMOGENEOUS TO FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Wright’s birth in 2017, YAMAGIWA started a collaboration with acclaimed architects and designers to rebuild new TALIESIN® to preserve his legacy for the future. “For this project, I took on the challenge of creating a work that enables viewers to physically experience the power of TALIESIN® 2 and the sense of presence that trees exude, presenting Wright’s work with a modern expression by changing the materials. Compared to Wright’s TALIESIN® 2, which comprises a continuous cascade of shades and light-shielding plates, I devised a configuration comprising three types of polyhedra.” ― Toyo Ito.

Lights made of natural materials such as wood or concrete and in geometric basic shapes continue to be on-trend. Colors dominated by black and brass, among others. Additionally, decorative wall lights will be in focus in the coming year.

Of course, it is unrealistic to redecorate every room every year, and testing every trend would also be unsustainable. Nevertheless, at least one idea can often be well integrated into the existing home. Light is a particularly beautiful furnishing element that can easily enhance the apartment decoratively and functionally with a few simple steps. Trend #1: Lights made of natural materials In addition to wood, concrete is also a natural product. The mixture of cement, water, and a rock aggregate consisting of sand and gravel is arbitrarily shapeable in a slurry-like state and extremely durable in hardened form. With the C series, Gantlights offers a luminaire that beautifully combines wood and concrete and many other combinations such as oak with carbonized wood. Trend #2: Lights in black tones A black-light body that seemingly absorbs the light envelops the light source, which in turn provides brightness: a black luminaire is an exciting contrast pair that is increasingly finding its way into living rooms. Above all, restrained formats such as discreet cubes that emit light upwards and downwards create an elegant feel-good atmosphere. GANTlights was founded in 2012 in Berlin by the architect and product designer Stefan Gant (34) to design individual lamps and products with architectural influence and manufacture locally affiliated workshops in small quantities. The company employs 8 permanent employees and sells its products internationally both through stationary and online retailers.

Stefan Gant has received various awards and nominations for his design objects, including the German Design Award Special and the European Product Design Award. They hang in reception areas of doctors and dentists, in cafés and offices, as well as in a wide variety of apartments – from Paris to Hong Kong. On average, 24 years of life are spent sleeping. Accordingly, a bed with a comfortable mattress receives a lot of attention in furnishing planning. But what about the lighting concept? To start the sleep process, melatonin is needed. The hormone causes fatigue but is only active if the environment is not too bright. An adapted lighting concept is therefore essential for good sleep. But in reality, bedrooms are usually too dim or much too brightly lit. Often too few light sources are responsible, often placed in the wrong place and with the wrong light color. Tip #1: The basic lighting: pendant lights with high ceilings, ceiling spots with low ceilings The basic lighting of a room almost always comes from above. The ceiling lighting distributes the light evenly throughout the room. The height of the luminaire is decisive here. With very high ceilings, a pendant lamp is suitable, which can also illuminate the cabinet at the appropriate height. Following the resounding success of the Virtual Villa and Boutique Hotel, BROKIS is building on its technological advancements and innovative solutions to showcase its award-winning lighting collections in a setting they undoubtedly belong in and form an integral part of – the modern office. In its latest project spanning more than 1,200 m2 of virtual office space, BROKIS presents 16 collections, including the latest additions to its product portfolio, Overlay, Prisma, Double, and Orbis. The goal was to create a timeless office ecosystem with relaxation zones and informal meeting rooms in which employees and visitors feel good. Welcome to our SKY Office in the clouds of Manhattan.

The offices are in a skyscraper in Manhattan, New York, covering an entire upper floor. The environment is airy and pleasant thanks to full-length windows looking out over the cityscape. The windows play an important role, as they remind the observer of the project’s unique venue, with the surrounding buildings outside providing a sense of dynamism rising from the streets below to the thriving, energetic offices. The main aspiration for the project was to create a setting, perhaps suitable for a design or creativity firm, conceived around people with a genuine sense of community working together in the building. The concept provides the perfect backdrop on which to cast the beauty of the BROKIS collections, the decorative lights instilling the space with a distinctive character and creating a warm and inviting office setting. Subtle and peculiar architectural touches combine with attractive appointments and furniture to enable each space to fulfill its special function. With no private offices, the open floorplan featuring an abundance of areas for work, meetings, and discussions speaks to the idea that the best creative results are achieved not through solo efforts but through collaboration between all the participants on a given project. The open space promotes the continuous exchange of ideas and opinions, with the central relaxation zone serving as a junction between the two halves of the Like the other virtual projects before it, the new BROKIS Virtual Office was created by the studios Salaris and Suprema. About the inspiration

The Loop Side Table aims to enrich our lives, both aesthetically and functionally. It illustrates how design can simultaneously simplify and enhance our spaces. The inspiration for Loop Side Table arose in 2020, a pivotal time in the world, seeing the transformation of homes into offices, playrooms and meeting rooms. This merging of personal spaces led Mustafa to the idea of creating a table that enables working from the comfort of your sofa and provides an alternative to the much-used dining table. Product characteristics The initial goal was to create a product that was sleek, minimalistic, and discreet. Its form is crucial to its function, permitting the table to merge and slide under sofas, thus allowing the plate to gracefully levitate over the seat. Additionally, Loop offers a rotating mechanism, enabling the plate to smoothly spin, and permitting its user to stand up with ease, essentially without the hassle of having to remove any items from it. Loop can also be used for other purposes - as an accent table, a nightstand, or a bedside tray table. Its metal base is powder-coated, whilst the tabletop is available in oak veneer and linoleum. Unlike the rest In essence, the table named itself with its unique feature - the looping motion. Thus, it is this very motion that differentiates Loop from the standard side table, and empowers it to take on different functions,with every turn that it makes. Designer About the Loop Side Table: "For visual sleekness, we balanced the coldness of the metal with the round edges and the warm exterior of the plate. Loop's aim is to be discreet in the interior space; its aesthetic is entirely in service of its function - to curve above the sofa seat for effortless use. Adding to that effortlessness, we implemented the rotating mechanism, ensuring exibility when standing up from the sofa. Hence, the purpose thoroughly conditions the form." Mustafa Cohadzic

The cork sustainable design:
It is the only used cork of the branches (falca) for the manufacture of cork granules. These are block clusters in an autoclave, being a 100% natural process without the use of additives. The technology, developed by Sofalca, consists of injecting water vapor through the pellets that will expand and agglutinate with the resins of the cork itself. This "cooking" also gives a dark color to the agglomerated cork, like chocolate. The production of steam is used biomass, obtained from the milling and cleaning of the falca, which makes it truly ecological production and, without waste, 95% energy self-sufficient. As a super-material, cork offers so many advantages because, in addition to its excellent thermic, acoustic insulation and antivibration characteristic, it is also a CO2 sink playing a key role in the environment.

Our subjects are based on the search for new forms, materials, functions and meanings. We use different materials and techniques to create our objects. And this list is constantly growing. At the moment, we are actively developing 3 areas: Ceramics, recycled paper and polymers. And in each direction, we implement many models that allow us to solve various interior tasks. I would like to note that we often use manual labor in production. This gives uniqueness and warmth. But we are no strangers to progress and are actively looking towards modern technologies. The solutions we have found in the production technology and work with the form give uniqueness to our objects. We pay special attention to the shape of the object; there is a certain feature that is characteristic exclusively of our objects: all the lines of the form tend to the classical ideal (to the ideal sphere, cone, cylinder). It's like a little kid who decided to sculpt the perfect jug and is happy with his work. In all our objects there are delicate flaws and small imperfections, which give them a special charm. They want to be considered. We like that they create a dialogue not only in the interior but also with a person. Approaches to creating objects vary from subject to subject. Something is born in the head, something in the experimental process. The rolling stone gathers no moss. It's the same design - you need to be in the flow. We make available 3D models of our objects. And our talented friends shoot videos that reveal their character. We often receive requests from interior designers; we try to help them solve problems and at the same time create unique items.
